Bob's Discount Furniture is a regional chain of 28 furniture stores, including 5 in-store outlet centers and several distribution centers. Bob’s Discount Furniture stores can be found in Bridgeport, Brookfield, East Lyme, Manchester, New London, Newington, Orange, Southington (outlet), Stamford, Taftville (distribution center) Connecticut; Portland, Maine; Lowell, Natick-Framingham, Saugus, Stoughton, West Springfield, Worcester, Massachusetts; Manchester, Nashua, Salem, Seabrook, Nashua (warehouse), New Hampshire; North Plainfield, Paramus, Totowa, Woodbridge, New Jersey; Farmingdale and Nanuet, New York; and Warwick, Rhode Island.

Some locations have cafes while others offer games.

Bob also has Bob’s Pit locations where he offers floor samples, slightly damaged and returned merchandise at seriously discounted rates.

What About Bob?

When asked about the origination of Bob’s Discount Furniture, Bob Kaufman tells the story of waterbeds and motorcycles and why the two shall meet. In 1990, Bob teamed up with Gene Rosenberg and they opened up an 8000 square foot warehouse in Newington, Connecticut, which became the first Bob’s Discount Furniture.

From waterbeds to family furnishings, Bob’s Discount Furniture now offers a complete line of living room, dining room and bedroom furnishings as well as occasional tables, recliners, bar stools, home accents and the all-important mattresses.

Bob’s Discount Furniture’s website has a nifty mattress wizard that takes you through a series of questions to help you pick the right mattress for you. Or, if you already know what you want, you can choose from the drop down selection between innerspring, natural latex, bobby bear, Bob-o-pedic and adjustable beds. All of which are based on the more expensive name brands, but available at a far more affordable rate.

Both Bob, president, and Cathy Poulin, Public Relations Director, provide the talent for the company’s TV commercials. Their marketing campaign positions Bob’s Discount furniture as a family-friendly retail chain that offers low prices.
