Mention the name, Broyhill, and you immediately think furniture. Like so many other furniture companies in the United States, Broyhill has been around for almost a century making furniture for family conscious consumers seeking well-made furniture.
Broyhill attributes its success to its investment in quality products and people. From the initial manufacturing process to the marketing of Broyhill furniture, Broyhill success is achieved through consistency and perseverance. Broyhill Furniture History Thomas H. (T.H.) Broyhill began his foray into furniture manufacturing in 1905 in Lenoir, North Carolina when he began investing in furniture manufacturing. In 1919, he became the majority owner of Lenoir Furniture Corporation, manufacturing bedroom and dining room furniture. In 1926, James Edgar (J.E.) Broyhill, T.H.’s brother, established Lenoir Chair Company, which expanded the company's product line into upholstery. Surviving the Great Depression and the Wars, Broyhill Furniture continued to grow through investments in facilities, skilled workers and smart management. By the 1970s, Broyhill Furniture was using the assembly line to streamline their furniture manufacturing. Purchased in 1980 by Interco Inc., today, Broyhill Furniture is a member of Furniture Brands International, the parent company of Lane, Thomasville, Henredon, Drexel Heritage and Maitland-Smith. Broyhill Furniture Broyhill Furniture includes both residential and contract divisions, manufacturing bedroom, dining room, living room, home office and wall systems/home entertainment. Broyhill offers two different ways to help you decide how to furnish your home with Broyhill Furniture. You are invited to use their online room planner, available at www.broyhillfurniture.com. Or, check “Visions: A Decorating Workbook,” geared toward removing the fear of interior design as you identify your own style and make your own decorating decisions. To download a copy of the Visions workbook in PDF format, go to http://www.broyhillfurniture.com/interface/style1/images/broyhill/Visions_Booklet.pdf. Broyhill also has select inventory online so if you want to view Broyhill’s Fontana or Vintage World bedroom collection, you can prior to searching for a store near you and making the trip. But even though they say, “a picture’s worth a 1000 words,” there is nothing like seeing it in the showroom. If you are looking for discounted or discontinued Broyhill Furniture, head out to one of their clearance or outlet centers. Because many of these pieces are slightly flawed or floor models, you may not be able to find a complete set, but if you are only looking for one or two pieces, this may be a better way to get more for your money.
