Broyhill Furniture History

Thomas H. (T.H.) Broyhill began his foray into furniture manufacturing in 1905 in Lenoir, North Carolina when he began investing in furniture manufacturing. In 1919, he became the majority owner of Lenoir Furniture Corporation, manufacturing bedroom and dining room furniture. In 1926, James Edgar (J.E.) Broyhill, T.H.’s brother, established Lenoir Chair Company, which expanded the company's product line into upholstery.

Surviving the Great Depression and the Wars, Broyhill Furniture continued to grow through investments in facilities, skilled workers and smart management.

By the 1970s, Broyhill Furniture was using the assembly line to streamline their furniture manufacturing.

Purchased in 1980 by Interco Inc., today, Broyhill Furniture is a member of Furniture Brands International, the parent company of Lane, Thomasville, Henredon, Drexel Heritage and Maitland-Smith.
